The Gatekeeper Training Implementation Support System provides a framework for planning, organizing, and implementing suicide prevention training in any system, organization, or community context. Whether you are someone who helps lead an organization, someone who is concerned about preventing suicide in the population you work with, or someone who wants to prevent suicide in your community, the GTISS can help you. The system provides tools and resources to help gatekeepers adopt what they learn in training and use it to help youth and adults of all ages. These tools can be adapted for any context and population, including the justice system, education, child welfare, and beyond.
The GTISS has five stages – Preparation, Training, Translation, Application, and Reflection. Each stage has a tool for organizations and communities (system level) and a tool for gatekeepers (individual level) for a total of 10 separate tools. Click the image on the right for a brief overview of the GTISS. Visit the stages to learn more about strategies for enhancing gatekeeper training before (Preparation Stage), during (Training Stage), and after implementation (Translation, Application, and Reflection Stages). Each stage has a slide show describing its goals, actions, research support, and tools. You can download the tools and adapt them to your own organization or community.
We want your input! One purpose of this website is to create a community for sharing innovations. We encourage you to use the tools and adapt them to your own context. If you adapt or create a tool, please visit the "Customized Examples" page so you can share it with us and get feedback. If you wish, we can add your tool to the website for others to use. Finally, we want your feedback. Click "Contact Us" above for any questions or inquiries you may have. Someone will contact you within 1-2 business days.
